RST Company Dinner Party!
Y’all no doubt noticed that there was no new blog post last week. The reason for this is that your humble author was busy attempting to get ready for his upcoming trip to Seattle for Roland, Schorr, and Tower’s very first all company meeting. Seattle was selected because it now boasts our newest office. Since this was the first ever full face to face meeting the company had, I decided it was worth while spending a few minutes talking about it.
The overall plan was that everyone flies in on Friday, we have the meeting Saturday, and we all head back home on Sunday. Nothing much was planned for Saturday daytime to give everyone a chance to look around the city. For my wife and I, it meant we had a shot at our very most favorite restaurant, Din Tai Fung. Din Tai Fung was founded in Taipei, Taiwan in 1958 as a cooking oil retail shop. In 1972, it transitioned into a full fledged restaurant specializing in soup dumplings and noodles. Sadly, they have no restaurants in Arizona, which I sincerely hope changes. We got off the plane, stopped at the hotel long enough to park our luggage, and made a bee line to the restaurant…YUM!
Saturday morning started out looking not so good, grey, dark, and dense fog shrouding the tops of all the downtown hotels. We were fortunate, however, and the fog started to burn off late morning and was mostly gone by mid-afternoon, perfect weather for sightseeing…which we did.
Then it was time for the meeting. Unlike most such meetings usually held in a board room somewhere, this was special, we’re going on a dinner cruise!! Courtesy of the good folks at Waterways Cruises, we spend a delightful two- and one-half hours dining and cruising around Lake Union. For an Arizona boy, this is something truly special, there just aren’t bodies of water large enough to cruise on where I live! The food was excellent, the company delightful, and the evening, a total success.

So, the evening wrapped up and we headed back to the hotel. All I could think about during Sunday’s flights back to Tucson was how wonderful the weekend turned out and how much I’m looking forward to the next one!
